Pumping Drill
On July 11, 2011 members went to
Sweet Arrow Lake to do a pump drill. The members pumped with Engine
58-10 and Brush 58-40. They used handlines, the deck gun and a Blitz
Fire.
Truck Rollover Simulator
On Saturday and Sunday July 9 & 10
the members traveled to the Schuylkill County Fire Training Academy
for a tanker truck simulator class sponsored by the Schuylkill
County EMA. The students learned about different methods that could
be used in different situations if a tanker truck is leaking. Leaks
were simulated as a hole, slit, valves, and caps leaking.

Comedy Night
On March 26, 2011 the fire
company held its 3rd Annual Comedy Night. The evening started out
with a light meal then the comedians of Jose' Angle, Matt
Faison and Eric McMahon
entertained the crowd and afterwards DJ Kevin Sibbitt played the
tunes.

Joint Drill
On February 27, 2011 the fire
company had a joint drill with Schuylkill Hose. Instructor Mike
Kitsock joined the group to give guidance along the way. The fire
companies personnel teamed up together to practice roof work,
hoseline advancement to the second floor, search and rescue,
overhaul and also went through a maze.

70th Annual Fire Company
Banquet
The Hose, Hook Ladder Fire
Co. No.1 held its 70th Annual Banquet on Saturday, February 19,
2011. Festivities started with the Master of Ceremonies Mike Kitsock.
Attendees also heard speeches from Guest Speaker Rep. of
Pennsylvania's 125th District Mike Tobash and Fire Company Chief
Dave Sattizahn. Members received awards from Secretary Jeff Long for
25, 35 and 50 years of service to the fire company. Jeff Long and
1st Assistant Chief Bob Miller read the names of the members that
have passed since last years banquet and lit a candle in their
honor. One candle was also lit for all passed deceased members. The
Dave & Bob handed out the training certificates to the members that
who had completed classes throughout the year. Some of the members
with many years of serviced were also honored and Schuylkill Hose
Company, Schuylkill Haven also had a plaque given to them for all of
their support. After the ceremony the guests enjoyed a live band,
Mindset from the Pine Grove area for music and fellowship.

Operation Hugs &
Kisses Auction
On Saturday,
February 05, 2011 Operation Hugs & Kisses held an auction at the
Pine Grove Hose, Hook & Ladder Fire Co. #1 in the banquet hall. The
auction was held to help support the fire companies that are located
within the Pine Grove Area School District.

SWAB is getting ready to
paint the body and Scorpion line the compartments. Hope that the
chassis will be in from Ford on February 22, 2011.

Update from December 17,
2010
,

A couple of personnel went
to SWAB in Elizabethville to check on the progress of the 2011 Brush
Truck. The truck will be mainly supported through the Department of
Homeland Security grant. The new brush truck will feature a
Ford F-550 chassis, 4x4, seating for 5, a 250 gpm pump, 300 gallons
of water, compartments for equipment, 3 SCBA seats, 2 scene lights,
a LED emergency lighting package and some hose storage and two pre
connected lines.
We will be going to SWAB
every few weeks for inspections. So check this page out for more
pictures.
